Kind of a curiosity: a diary of a diary, printed on newsprint but made precious.
Magida calls these "posters", there are 3 of them. They each come wrapped in glassine so you have to, sort of, excavate them.
Here's what she has to say:
My dad had this little drawer in his bedroom dresser where he would put things that were from his past. Growing up I used to sneak into his room and play with the old coins, jewelry, photos and other little memories he kept in there.
When my dad passed away in 2010, I went back to that small drawer that I haven’t snooped through in what seemed to be about ten years, and pulled out a little red notebook that was all written in Arabic. This time, as I flipped through the pages, I knew I wanted to understand what was written in it. After hiring a translator, I discovered that this little notebook was a shared journal my father started with his friends to hold their goodbyes before he moved to Canada. I knew I had to go to Lebanon and see the beauty that was described throughout these pages, and find out more about my father’s life. I spent twenty four days in South Lebanon tracing his past; where he grew up, where he would play, where he went to school and what he was surrounded by every day.
This collection of images show my journey to Lebanon as I learned about my father’s past, and what he left behind.
Three newsprint posters, 15 x 22.5 inches open. Signed and numbered in an edition of 50.
