Beyond the cliché, Los Angeles is a tough town to photograph. The landmarks and the myths are top of mind but the reality is something else. In February, 2011, photographer Tony Fouhse spent 8 days in Los Angeles looking behind the scenes. He went to the usual spots: Hollywood, The Sunset Strip, Venice Beach. And he went places he was told he couldn’t: South Central, East L.A. These images show some of the people and scenes he photographed: Russian emigrés, gang bangers, runaways. . .

The face of Los Angeles you don’t see on Entertainment Tonight.
